Whole-Home Expansion in Newtown Square, PA
Project Overview
This family wanted a home that could comfortably host
their large extended family. Their existing layout was
too confined, so they partnered with Windle Design &
Construction to expand and redesign their living spaces
while preserving the home’s classic charm.
Client's Challenge
The main challenge was two-fold: the existing floor plan
didn’t support large-scale hosting, and zoning changes
midway required a redesign. Our team adjusted the plan
to meet new ordinances while preserving the clients’
vision and maximizing added space.
Our Solution
We expanded the home by nearly 1,000 square feet, creating new and improved spaces designed around both family life and entertaining.
Key features include:
- Spacious in-law suite for comfort and privacy.
- Expanded dining, living, and kitchen areas centered around a 15-foot dining table.
- Custom kitchen with warm white cabinetry and a wall of windows for natural light.
- French-inspired butler’s pantry with elegant detailing and custom millwork.
- Living room with coffered ceilings for added depth and sophistication.
- Rounded banquette with white oak accents for warmth and visual interest.
- Custom bar with white oak cabinetry, glass shelving, and natural light.
Despite the zoning hurdles, we maintained the project’s original design intent through creative adjustments and close collaboration with township officials.
